Probus is a worldwide non-sectarian, non-political and non-fundraising organisation existing to promote fellowship amongst like-minded men. Its name is derived from the two words PROfessional and BUSinessmen (including self-employed) and is aimed at those who are retired or semi-retired ranging between the ages of 55 to 95 years of age.

Cooden  Probus club was formed in 1991 and is restricted to 65 members. Meetings are held at the Highwoods Golf Club on the third Thursday of each month starting at 10.15, where coffee is provided with a chance to meet likeminded people and entertainment is usually provided in the form of speakers.   We adjourn to the bar at the conclusion of the meeting and presentation, usually at 12.00.

In addition to normal monthly meetings there is an active walking group meeting fortnightly rounding off a relatively short walk of 3 miles including a coffee stop and ending with a meal in a pub local to the vicinity.

In addition, there are organised events throughout the year comprising a BBQ, Theatre productions, visits to places of historical interest and minor sports events including Croquet/Crazy Golf in addition to Luncheons 3 or 4 times a year.  Wives, Partners and widows are welcomed to all outside activities and can share on occasions the entertainment provided by speakers at our monthly meetings.

A Club Holiday (4 nights) takes place annually, usually the 1^st week in September.

So, if retiring from work has left a hole in your life let PROBUS assist in filling it and make new friends in the process.
