The Club is open to all gentlemen who are retired or semi-retired from their professions and business.
Founded in 1976, we are part of the national network of autonomous Probus Clubs, providing an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and hear an eclectic range of interesting speakers.
We extend a warm welcome to potential new members.

Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday mornings in the month in the Flavel Centre, Dartmouth, August excepted.
- 10:30 a.m. for coffee and biscuits.
- 11:15 for talks. Please refer to the Programme page for details.
- 12:45 for lunch at the Royal Castle on the first Wednesdays in the month, August excepted.
Those wishing to lunch – please notify the Lunch Secretary by 6:00 p.m. on the Sunday prior to the meeting, having reviewed the menu provided by the Lunch Secretary.
A specific menu will usually be e-mailed. Late bookings might be possible, but to avoid confusion, please do not contact the RC – make all arrangements with the Lunch Secretary.
Annual subscriptions (£20.00) are due on 1st January. Cheque, cash or preferably by BACS to the Treasurer please. If not paid by the 30th of September, the member will be excluded.
Current costings: Meeting with pre-meet coffee and biscuits: £4.00. An account/register will be open for members who attend meetings and who will receive quarterly communications – requesting settlement with the club treasurer, preferably by BACS.
Two course luncheon with coffee at Royal Castle: c. £18.50 depending on your menu choice.
All retired or semi-retired professional and businessmen who are interested in membership are warmly invited to attend as a guest.
Management of the Club is vested in its officers under our Rules which you can download here. We have no formal dress code – traditionally we asked that: “Suits or smart casual should be worn. Ties are preferred”. Jacket and tie are “preferred” as many members find our meetings are the only time in the month that ties are worn nowadays, and they like to reflect on their working lives – but ‘smart casual’ will suffice, and members recognise times change!
We are an informal and diverse group. The summer even sees short sleeved shirts with a prize for the most garish worn at the first Wednesday in July meeting!
Now we meet at The Flavel Centre, Flavel Place, lunching at the RC.
Parking is usually to be found at the Mayor’s Avenue car park (which uses cash, or PayByPhone apps for payment).
