The Hove Probus Club, which was founded in 1972, is a mixed club providing the opportunity to meet and socialise with retired or semi-retired professional businessmen and women who are from a wide variety of backgrounds and careers.
The Club offers friendship at a monthly meeting at which there is a two-course lunch followed by a talk on a variety of interesting topics delivered by members and external speakers. If speakers are representing a charity we make a donation
Members will also receive the quarterly Probus magazine which is free of charge
We also organize an annual holiday; the 2019 trips were to Bruges, Belgium, and Lichfield. There are also occasional outings, and these have included Harvey’s Brewery in Lewes, Preston Manor in Brighton and The Keep in Brighton, which is the records office of East Sussex
The November meeting is the Partners’ Lunch at which we welcome members’ partners and guests. Entertainment is provided following the lunch.
We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at the Hove Club, which is a Grade II listed building near Hove seafront. The meetings start with lunch at 12.45 followed by the talks at 14.15, which are limited to 30 minutes including questions.
The joining fee for the Hove Probus Club is £35 and the annual subscription is £35, which is prorated depending on the month of joining. The cost of lunch is £21, which is paid on the day of the meetings.
If you are interested in becoming a member you are welcome to attend a meeting as our guest so that you can see for yourself what a friendly and enjoyable club we are! Please contact our Secretary if you wish to attend a meeting or would like further information.
