Welcome to Orwell Probus Club in Ipswich Suffolk, close to the beautiful River Orwell from which the Club takes its name.
Probus clubs form a worldwide network to provide regular gatherings to retired or semi-retired men from a wide variety of business or professional roles. Each Probus club is autonomous. We are non-political, non-affiliated and are not a fund-raising or charitable group. Here at Orwell Probus Club, we meet on the second Thursday of each month for an informal chat, a drink, a lunch and an opportunity to listen to a speaker.
The atmosphere is relaxed, and friendly in the company of others in similar circumstances with like interests. Members are invited to bring along guests, particularly if they are potential members. Although a male club we do have an active social programme in which we welcome wives and partners including surviving partners of former members who are no longer with us. Our social programme includes visits to places of interest, sometimes an annual holiday together, and special dinners and events.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 12.00 for lunch at 12.30pm, at the Ipswich & District Indoor Bowling Club, 136 Rushmere Road, Ipswich, IP4 4JU . We usually finish by around 3pm.
